A little advice on Tattoo Pain.
Does getting a tattoo hurt?
This is probably the most common question asked before someone gets a tattoo. Of coarse getting a tattoo is painful but, how painful it is all depends on the person getting it some people have a high threshold for pain and will not experience much pain at all while others will find it very uncomfortable.
If you are young and have not experienced much pain in your life such as broken limbs or child birth you may find it difficult to switch off to the pain but, if you are getting on a bit and have had some experience with pain in your life you should find it a little easier.
There are certain places on your body that will be more sensitive than others such as your ribs, hands, neck and chest, these places will be more likely to give you more pain when getting a tattoo. See the pain chart below for and best and worst places to get a tattoo.
There are some ways to help relief the pain.
NEVER get a tattoo when your hungover or sick in some way, as you will be more sensitive to the pain and find it hard to distract yourself from it.
There are products on the market that can help to numb the tattoo area but, usually these products do not last too long, so for a small tattoo these products can be very helpful.
Try to distract yourself from what is going on by either listening to some music, talking to the tattooist or a friend. Note some tattoo artists do not like to talk as it will distract them from their work.
